All too often we don't tell people "thank you" enough. I know there has been many times that I haven't said it when I should have. You can never tell another person how much you appreciate them and what they have done for you, too much. Those two words can go a lot further than you think. The good thing is, you hear them A LOT, here in the South. Being hospitable is what we are known for. So next time you have the chance just remember to say "thank you." You never know, that simple gesture could turn someones day right around. End of year... to a new beginning

You just have to love our North Carolina weather! In this awkward transition into winter, one day may be 70 degrees and the next will be 40 degrees. Never the less, this is always an exciting time of year. There is a big holiday each month, which gives everyone something to look forward to. It's the start of November and we have Thanksgiving coming up!
We have been very busy lately! We have undergone some changes and we are gearing up for a big Spring of 2012. We think you all will be very pleased with the new additions to Port Southern. We have updated our website and are coming out with new colors for next year. We are in the process of growing our retail stores and also our College Ambassador program. On Deck for Dustin

Hello gents and belle's! Port Southern recently had the opportunity to show some Southern Hospitality to someone that truly understands what it means to be hospitable. Dustin Garver, a 23 year old from Lawndale, NC was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was just four years old. Dustin was able to control his condition throughout his life by medicines and therapy along with regular exercise. Dustin was active while growing up as he played on many baseball teams including his college years. After his college baseball career passed, his cystic fibrosis began to progress yet again. He has spent much of the last few years in and out of hospitals visiting with doctors for checkups and tests in order to keep a close watch on his condition. During a hospital stay in March of this year Dustin was informed he would need a double lung transplant. On June 2, 2010 Dustin was sent in for tests and further inquiry about the procedure that would need to take place. Dustin was informed that he is a great candidate for a double lung transplant and since that day the preparations have been in full force for his procedure. Dustin has remained a positive attitude throughout all of his hospital visits and is highly regarded within his community. Dustin has remained active in his community with youth baseball teams despite his hospital stays. On July 24th there was a golf tournament organized on his behalf that was titled "On deck for Dustin" which was designed to help raise money for this costly procedure that is needed.

Port Southern was able to be hospitable and donate a few items to help serve as prizes for the tournament. The event had a great turnout and was a huge success. Port Southern hopes that you too will show some hospitality yourself! You can make a tax deductible donation to:

Taste Of The Town

Hey everyone,

We just wanted to let everyone know that tonight is High Point's Taste of the Town event. If you are not familiar with this event, it is an awesome event that supports the Hospice. Popular vendors from all over the triad come together, offer up their best gifts, and a small taste from each one are available for purchase.

It is always a great event to go out and pick samples to taste from all the different restaurants and food vendors. Another great reason to go out to this years Taste of the Town is because there are 2 Port Southern gift baskets available in their silent auction. One is a guy centered gift basket and the other is a girl centered gift basket.

Like I already mentioned all proceeds go to support a good cause, and is just another way to show your hospitality like we try to do as often as we can.

Before I go, I would like to clear up some questions we have received since my last blog post. Port Southern is not being solely run by myself. I still have 2 great partners in Jeremy Hiatt and Zach Moore. We are all still working hard together to keep this going, I just simply meant in my last post that we all have been very busy this summer and have not had a whole lot of time to put forward in keeping everyone up to date on Port Southern's events, activities, and status.

Where Have We Been?

It has been quite some time! I almost feel lost as I write this post, because our last post was over a month ago from now, but the good news is that we are back!

The question I am sure all of you are asking yourselves is, where has Port Southern been? In all honesty, I can tell you that I have been on vacation. Like all college students out there, school is the best time to live life up. As I am headed into my final year at High Point University, I wanted to take advantage of this summer and get out and travel some. With a full time job around the corner, I knew I may never have the opportunity to take this much time off for quite some time, so I took advantage of it.

My trip started out on the coast of NC at Oak Island, near Southport where Port Southern was named. I spent a week there fishing and relaxing on the beach. After that week was over, I headed north for more coastal living as I spent another week in Rhode Island.

Both spots are awesome places to visit in the summer, and I really had a great time. But, I never forgot about Port Southern and in all honesty while I was gone, and my partners working in some other jobs that they have started careers in, we havent had much time to share with you all!

The truth of it is that we are glad to be back, but need your help! We need you guys to help spread the word about Port Southern. If you havent been able to get some of our great summer products, check them out on our website at www.portsouthern.com! If you are vacationing, email us for some stickers or cards and help us spread the word!

The Summer Release Is Out!

On Monday we finally released some products for you to enjoy the rest of the summer, and we have had some great feedback on them. For those of you who may not have had a chance to check them out, Im going to do just a brief run-down on what we released and why.

First things first for all of our belle followers, we finally added a sizable product for you all to enjoy. For a long time, we have received emails asking for equal ladies products, and now we are aiming to deliver. Its made with our same knit fabric that we use for our men's polos and has a great fit.

We also released t-shirts for both guys and girls. During the summer, one of the most popular items around are t-shirts, and ours fits the same mold. Its free-flowing, light, and comfortable for the warm temperatures. They come in two different designs, that both look great.

Another great item that we released is our Pineapple Needlepoint Belt. A great accessory that is beginning to be a little more prevalent, but needlepoint is still something that will make your wardrobe unique. The craftsmanship put into the belt is nothing below true quality.

We also added some new colors in our Port Southern Croakies and Koozies, so be sure and pick up those smaller gifts as well.

Before I get going, I would really like to extend our deepest apologies for our shopping cart the first day of our release. In the midst of changing and releasing new items, our shipping function took a hit, making it difficult for some of you to place an order the way you wanted to. All of these problems are cleared up and resolved now, so be sure to go back and try to place your order again if you havent already. Whens the Summer Release and What to Expect?

Changes to the website and Changes to our Pineapple Fund

Port Southern met last night to finalize some changes to one of the biggest parts to our company, the Pineapple Fund.

The Pineapple Fund is a way that we can give back, and this time its not just monetarily. In the past, we have just given back with money, but this time we are volunteering ourselves. We will not only use a portion of our profits to raise money for important causes, but we will also take part in delivering our gifts.

One year we may sponsor a local charity walk, and take part in walking in the event. The next time we may go buy food for food pantry, and then deliver the food ourselves. This will not only give us the great opportunity of serving those in need of help, but it will also let us visit and show first hand hospitality.

I would also like to let you know that we have made some small changes to the website as we get ready for our new products to release soon. Meeting Tonight To Introduce New Pineapple Fund

Hi,

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and we from Port Southern would like to remember and thank all of those that are in the armed forces protecting our country today. That kind of hospitality cannot be forgotten because it gives us the opportunity to live freely and safely.

Tonight, Port Southern is having an important meeting planning the new and revised changes to our Pineapple Fund that we will be re-introducing in the near future. The general concept of spreading and showing our Southern hospitality from Port Southern will remain the same, but the ways that we are going to do it is what will be changing.

These changes are for the better and will really give us more opportunities to get involved.

We will unravel the new changes, new products, and some new company strategies very soon, and I am personally very excited the direction that we are headed with Port Southern.

Memorial Day Weekend

Today is a busy day for us at Port Southern as we have packed 127 of our very own Southern Hospitality Polos to go to embroidery for some of our customers who are getting them specialized for some great events coming up.

This is a great addition that we have recently added with Port Southern where you can get items personalized and tailored for any events, business or social groups, or even for yourself.

We pack your order and send it to one of our local embroidery artists, they then embroider your logo onto our Southern Hospitality Polos or even Pineapple Twill Hats, we get them back and ship them out to you.

Back to NC after planning and Fashion show

On my last full day in Rhode Island, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to go to a fashion show in Lincoln, RI. It was the tenth annual Giovani Fashion show.

Working in clothing with Port Southern and designing our products, it was a very interesting experience to see some of the fashions from local designers as well as some of Old Navy's designs.

Now as I head back to High Point today, we have a lot of planning that needs to be put into motion. With several events coming up over the next couple of weeks as well as another product release coming soon, it is a very busy time for Port Southern.

Because of this, Port Southern would like to say how thankful we are for all of the support that our fans give to us. We would also like to thank God for being able to have a successful clothing line, and also thank him for being able to show our hospitality to others.

Gone North To Plan Trade Show

Hey,

Im glad to be coming to you all from Wakefield, Rhode Island. Definitely seems unusual for Port Southern to get this far North this soon, but I have just gotten away for a couple days to do some planning.

The first weekend of August, Port Southern will be traveling to Charlotte, NC to visit our first trade show with many boutique stores from the Southeast. The trade show will be for vendors to show their products for Spring of 2011. Its very exciting to be partaking in the trade show, but we have a lot to plan before we get to Charlotte.

In a couple of weeks, we will begin to call all the retail stores we would like to visit with and schedule individual meetings. We will also be preparing a view book for all of the retailers so that they have a good hold on all of the products Port Southern currently offers and all the new products that will be new to come.

In the meantime, I would like to remind everyone to stay on the lookout for the new products we have to offer this summer in a month, and to also keep spreading the message of Port Southern.

Weekend Vacation

Hey,

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

This weekend I set out on a little vacation to one of our favorite beaches of Oak Island, NC. It was a very relaxing time, and I was able to come up with some great progress on some of our new products set to release in about a month from now for the summer.

Sitting on the beach is one of the best spots to relax and process some great thoughts.

Oak Island is a neighbor beach to Southport, NC and Southport actually has a big significance in how the name Port Southern came about. A good friend and supporter of Port Southern, Nick Ruden, is a big fan of Southport as am I, and is the basis of how the word was switched around to get Port Southern.

Just a little of Port Southern background history that we thought we would share with you.

In the coming weeks we look forward to some more great events we will share with you as well as some more detailed information on the next release for Port Southern.

Saturday's Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase

This past Saturday, Port Southern traveled a little ways down the road to the Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase horse race in Clemmons, NC. It was the first time the horse races were back in the past 8 years, but was still a classy event and seemed like it had taken place each and every year.

We had plenty of fun and met a lot of great folks. There were terrier races, fly-overs, bag pipes playing, the call to the post, and many great races. Check out some of our photos below:

Tanglewood Steeplechase Tomorrow

This weekend Port Southern is headed to the Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase horse race in Clemmons/Winston-Salem, NC.

The Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase has a rich tradition of horse races held in Tanglewood Park, but has been gone for several years. This year, the race is back to hold its 45th year associated with the Steeplechase Racing Association.

Port Southern will have a vendor display at the Tanglewood Cup so please stop by if you are attending this years race. We also had the great opportunity a couple months back to sponsor the Tanglewood Race Team with some of our Southern Hospitality Polos and Pineapple Twill Hats to help them promote the event.

The Tanglewood Cup is a great event for the area, and we hope to see you all out there this weekend!

Port Southern would also like to offer our congratulations to the class of 2010 at High Point University who holds their graduation tomorrow!

Pink Ribbon Luncheon

Hey Yall! Yesterday Jeremy and I were able to go to the Pink Ribbon Luncheon held at the Emerywood Country Club in High Point, NC. The event was held to honor and help raise money for Cancer and Breast Cancer awareness. It was a great event filled of good food and good fun.

Port Southern set up a small display (seen below), visited with folks, and were able to contribute by offering some Pineapple Twill Hats (PINK specifically), Port Southern Croakies, and Port Southern Koozies as door prizes.

The event was really a great scene and while Jeremy and I as well as a couple other gentlemen were a little out-numbered, we had a fun time nonetheless. Celia Rivenbark, the guest speaker for the luncheon, was truly a Southern belle. A great author of "You Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start In the Mornin'", "Belle Weather: Mostly Sunny With A Chance Of Scattered Hissy Fits", and many more. Mrs. Rivenbark spoke all about Southern belles as well as Southern gents, and it was really a great fit for the crowd and for what Port Southern is all about.

We look forward to many more Pink Ribbon Luncheons in the future, and we are praying for all of those out there that are touched by Cancer or Breast Cancer.

Thanks Junior League Of High Point

This weekend myself and Jeremy had the privilege of taking part in the Junior League of High Point's Kentucky Derby Day party. The party was held at the Briles house in High Point, and the Junior League had a great crowd come out and take part in the afternoon's events.

Port Southern took part in the event by submitting a gift basket for their silent auction. (seen below)

It was truly a pleasure to take part in the Derby Day celebration, and we had a great time. Thank you to the Junior League Of High Point and a special thank you to Leah Guttersen for getting us involved with your Derby Day festivities. We had a great time!

Happy Friday to you all! I am looking forward to a great weekend filled of good times and hospitality with friends and neighbors.

This weekend Port Southern will be visiting the Junior League of High Point, NC for their annual Kentucky Derby Day Party held at the Briles House in downtown High Point. The Derby Day party will be a great time celebrating this years Kentucky Derby, and we are happy to take part in raising money for community outreach projects for High Point.

If you haven't gotten your ticket for the event, be sure to see one of the Junior League members, and if you don't you will be missing out on some great Port Southern gifts and having some fun.

I also wanted to share with you all something very special that myself and Jeremy took part in on Wednesday. Wednesday was High Point University's annual spring concert, and this years artist was Corey Smith.

If you are not familiar of Corey Smith, he is a great music artist raised in Georgia. He writes his own music and basically sings about his daily life with a great Southern feel.

Myself and Jeremy had the great opportunity of meeting Corey Smith before the concert. He's a very nice guy, down to earth, and definitely knows how to show Southern hospitality.

We had the pleasure of presenting him with some great Port Southern gifts, and even got his autograph on one of our Pineapple Twill Hats.

It was an awesome night that was capped off with some great music!

Bud Kivett and Show Some Hospitality To Our Friends

Hi! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Today, I wanted to share Port Southern's event from this past weekend. We had the great opportunity in being a sponsor of the Bud Kivett Golf Tournament held in High Point, NC. This tournament is held for a great cause with the High Point Regional Hospital Heart Strides Program. The Heart Strides Program helps rehabilitate patients who have suffered from some type of heart attack or heart illness.

We had a great time being able to play in the sponsor day tournament, display our products on sponsor day, and take part in this great cause to show our Southern hospitality.

Myself and Jeremy had a great time playing with his brother David Hiatt and my dad Mike Beck. We left a lot of shots out on the course, but we had a great time none-the-less.

We hope that we can take part in this great event in the coming years. We also want to congratulate Bryan Colquitt for his winning the Bud Kivett Memorial Golf Tournament this year finishing with an overall score of 139 for two days of golf.

Before I get going, we have a very special opportunity to share some hospitality and you can get involved. Chivalry Is Not Dead- Being chivalrous is not dead these days. One of the keys to showing that you promote hospitality is to be chivalrous. Be chivalrous , be courteous, and be nice.

Most people think that being chivalrous is fake or not the cool thing to do. Port Southern disagrees with those feelings. We think that being chivalrous and kind is the right thing to do. We hope that we are being kind and courteous to our customers, and that our customers will continue the trend into their daily lives.

A new retailer has once again joined the Port Southern family and this one is held near and dear to us. The High Point University bookstore will now be carrying our Port Southern products starting with our Southern Hospitality Polos in all of our colors, our Purple Port Southern Croakies, and Our Pineapple Twill Hats.

Port Southern Will Be Attending The Zeta Psi Pickin' For A Cure- Raleigh NC

This weekend we will be off to Raleigh for the Zeta Psi NC State fraternity's Pickin For A Cure event. The event is comprised of a concert filled with some of the best bluegrass bands from North Carolina and is catered by Backyard Bistro. All the proceeds from the event will go to the Jimmy V Foundation built for cancer research.

Port Southern will also be attending this year for the first time to set up a small display, hand out free stuff, and take in the music and good times with the rest of the folks. There's nothing like spreading some Southern hospitality while listening to some good bluegrass music!

I hope everyone that can will come out to the event in Raleigh at the tailgate lot on Trinity Road. If you are there, be sure to stop by and say hello to us.

Lastly before I go, I would like for all of us to remember the Virginia Tech Hokies today. Today is the anniversary of the awful tragedy that took place on VT's campus a couple years ago, and I would like to say that you are all in our prayers.

Wake Forest

Yesterday, Port Southern was on the road again to Winston-Salem to visit our fans at Wake Forest. We set up a small display in their student center (Benson Center) to show off our products and build more interest at Wake.

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great spring weekend!

Port Southern had a great time this weekend as myself and Jeremy visited with the HPU Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Yesterday we held a special trunk show for the guys at their house, and had a great time.

We are very thankful to the HPU Sigs for having us stop by, and thanks for all the support that you guys showed to us. You all definitely know how to exhibit the true meaning of Southern hospitality!

We want to give a special thank you to Bobby who represented one of our Southern Hospitality Polos so well, that he decided to rep it in a carnival dunk tank...

Easter Weekend On The Road

Happy late Easter! I hope everyone enjoyed the Easter holiday weekend, and got to spend some great time with their family and friends.

Port Southern did a little of both, as we traveled on Saturday to the Stoneybrook Steeplechase horse race in Raeford, NC.

We had a great time visiting with people from all over North Carolina, and we enjoyed the races as well. It was great meeting all of you, and we are so happy that we had such a good response from you all!

Our horse racing circuit is not complete after the Stoneybrook because we will be headed to the Tanglewood Cup in a couple weeks, so be sure to mark it on your calendars and come out and have a great time with some Southern hospitality.

Have A Great Time At The Cup!

Hey! I hope everyone has had a great day and that someone today has shown you some kind of hospitality, and if not I hope you have had the opportunity to show someone else hospitality today.

This weekend as we all know is the Carolina Cup Steeplechase Race in South Carolina. Because the charge of $5,000 was too much to swallow for Port Southern to be there this year, we still hope everyone has a great time! Hi! I hope all of you are having a great St. Patty's Day and a great hump day as well! If this week has been as busy for you as it has been for myself and Port Southern then Im sure you are as happy to see that we are on the back side of this week and headed for the weekend!

Today, myself and Jeremy had a great meeting with the Chamber of Commerce here in High Point. It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Ingram with the Chamber, and discuss our company as well as gain more information on the Chamber itself. The rest of my day looks to be full of communication with our manufacturers as we continue to sure up the designs that will be coming out soon, and continuing to make sure that orders are going out as they should be.

But, I thought todays blog would be a good time to give you even more in-depth information about Port Southern and tell you some ways that you can help us and show us great hospitality!

1. Help our Pineapple Fund! Our Pineapple Fund continues to go through transformations and is very important to Port Southern. After all, it is the exact basis of what our company is all about and that is showing hospitality to others. One way that the Fund is being worked on now, is that we have been in communications and are working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It is very exciting to work with them, and we look to have all the loose ends tied up soon. In order to help the Pineapple Fund and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, be sure to purchase Port Southern products. A portion of all of our profits go directly to the fund and will help the Make-A-Wish! Port Southern will attend Stoneybrook Steeplechase

Port Southern will attend the Stoneybrook Steeplechase on April 3 in Raeford, NC. This will be the 59th time the horse race is held at the Carolina Horse Park, and is a part of the Steeplechase circuit that runs up and down the East coast.

We are very excited to be attending this years Stoneybrook Steeplechase, and are happy to add this to our horse racing event schedule along with the Tanglewood Cup in Winston-Salem. It looks to be a great time, and we are very excited to be visiting our friends in Raeford.

We also wanted to take this time to announce FREE SHIPPING. Spring Break? Not for Port Southern....

This week is High Point University's spring break, and because I am an HPU student then I get to be out of classes. But, with the busy schedule that Port Southern has had recently, the work continues! Please dont mistake this as a complaint...We love this job, and with all the continued members joining the Port Southern family and fan base we can continue to share our love for Southern hospitality!

Today, we have been planning more on the college tour starting this spring at NC college campuses, and will spread next fall to other states. It will be a great time traveling to college campuses meeting and greeting with fellow Port Southern friends. Hey guys! I hope everyone has enjoyed a great week this week! We at Port Southern have had a great week full of spring even though the weather doesn't show it here in High Point.

We appreciate all the feedback and results that we have received up till this point, and it really shows that our hard work is paying off. Our Southern Hospitality Tip Tuesday for this week is:

Show Respect- A good way to show that you are a hospitable person is to show respect as often as you can. Show respect to your elders, to your friends, to your neighbors, or even the strongest way to show your respect is to strangers.

Port Southern has had a full day of events today. We have planned two more events to take part in this summer, remained in contact with events that we have already committed too, worked with our manufacturers on final touch ups for a product releasing in the summer, and acquired another retail location. All of these details we will be able to give more details on as it comes closer to the time they happen.

With all of these events taking place, I did have one great opportunity this evening that I wanted to share with you all. I had the privilege to speak with one of the owners of an innovative company called Woozie. Woozie is a unique company that creates wine glass sleeves made from neoprene to keep your wine glass insulated. A great weekend!

Port Southern had a great weekend that was full of business and fun. It started off Saturday with a great photo shoot downtown in High Point at the home of the Junior League, the Briles House.

After a successful photo shoot with our team, we then had a get together for the new members of the Port Southern family. It was a good time to spend with all of our new members, sharing some food and discussing future developments with our brand.

I want to give a special thank you to all of our new ambassadors who took part in our photo shoot and who came to spend time with us on Saturday. It was a great event, and we can't wait to get together with you again soon!

Today, despite the rain here in High Point, we continue to do work putting the final touches on some special events and a special foundation that will be a great part of our Pineapple Fund. I can't wait to share the good news with you all!

It's a great day, and not to mention its Friday, but Port Southern's work is not over. Tomorrow will be a great time as our Port Southern Ambassador Program gets underway. The Spring/Summer Releases

Hey! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I want to apologize for not getting this post to you on Friday. My day seemed to get busier as it went forward, and I never got caught up.

As you all may know by now, our first release of new products to the Port Southern line is planned for March 1st! Its very exciting and we are looking forward to adding more options for all of our fans. A second release of products for the Port Southern line is also scheduled for sometime in May or June.

After receiving multiple questions of curiosity on these releases, I thought that it would be only fair to all of our fans to clarify what basically to expect with these new product release times. For our first release on March 1st, we will be adding new colors for the guys in the Southern Hospitality Polo as well as some new products. The new products are smaller products but some will be directed for the gentlemen and some are directed for the belles.

Our second release in the early portion of the upcoming summer will include larger and unique products which are being specifically created for our belle followers, and some relaxed new products will be available for both our gentlemen and belle fans.

We wanted to be sure to clarify our plans so that all of you knew what to look for in the upcoming months. We are very excited to be expanding our line and we promise to continue our expansion to the best of our ability. When Is Port Southern's Spring Release?

When will Port Southern release its Spring line?

A question Im sure has been going through all of your heads, and was once going through our heads on Port Southern's board at one time as well. But, the good news is finally here! Port Southern will be releasing our spring products on....

March 1, 2010

Barring any unforeseen mishaps, we will be releasing our products online that day. You will have to continue to check with our retail locations for their exact release date, but you can find our new spring products online at http://www.portsouthern.com sometime on Monday, March 1!

We will be releasing more products later into the summer as our line further develops, so keep up with our blog and our website for more updates of our exact release of those items.

Thank Goodness It's Friday

It's finally Friday and the weekend is just around the corner! This week has been a roller coaster with unpredictable weather and an unpredictable schedule.

Port Southern had a great meeting last night discussing a new development in the Port Southern line (hopefully I will be introducing some news over the next couple of months that will be very exciting for our female fans), and discussing a great new member to the Port Southern team who we also hope to introduce in the near future.

Today, I was supposed to be traveling to Charlotte to visit the Southern Clothing Market but my plans were changed as the weather was strongest this morning when I was supposed to be traveling. This market is a big trade show for men's and women's boutiques from all across the Southeast to come and see what brands like Port Southern have in store for the next seasons. It would have been a nice trip to make, but I have been productive nonetheless.

The weekend is only hours away, and it looks to be like a great one with Super Bowl parties and good times spent with friends and family!

Post Storm Monday

A view of my back yard after our weekend snow storm. Its hard to believe that Port Southern has been planning continuously on our spring events, our spring colors, our spring apparel, etc while High Point was getting pounded with snow. Port Southern cant wait for spring!

This week is looking to be pretty relaxed for Port Southern. Today and Thursday, we will have our usual Port Southern board meeting at night. It will also include the usual emails and phone calls from manufacturers, event committees, and contacts.

But, there is one event that we are hoping to have that will break up the usual schedule for this week. A get together with our Port Southern ambassadors is scheduled for this next weekend, if the snow doesn't attack High Point again.

Friday Before The Storm

I dont know how many times I have said, "Man, I wish I could be there today" but today is definitely one of those days. If you are from North Carolina, you are going through the same thing I am going through this weekend.....snow. While Port Southern wants to gear up for Spring with our new lines and new colors, our area is calling for 5-8 inches of snow.

Before it snows tonight into tomorrow, I have set out today to get some work done. A large portion of today will be designing and working with two manufacturers on two new product ideas. These ideas would be released sometime around May or June, and would fit really well with any summer wardrobe. These ideas will be for guys and girls, and I will make sure to update you further when we get closer to the release times.

Today is also full of more phone calls and emails as usual, but to me and Port Southern its all a productive and good time.

I know that we continue to promote this too, but dont forget to take a pineapple with you on your next road trip or maybe even your favorite Southern Hospitality Polo. Excitement Builds

Today Port Southern received an early shipment of our Spring Colors as we get ready for our Spring photo shoot in the coming weeks. Its always nice to see our hard work pay off with a product in hand, and a continued image of how much our fans could enjoy what we have in store.

Outside of the fun stuff, Port Southern has a board meeting tonight continuing to work through our schedule of events for 2010. Right now we have things planned for March, May, and June and have a lot of events and months to get through over the next couple meetings.

Party On The Plank and More!

Port Southern is going to be attending the Party On The Plank, held by the Junior League of High Point, NC. The event will take place this summer, and is designed to be a party in the streets of High Point. Retailers, vendors, music, food, and Port Southern will be in attendance to make the Party On The Plank the best event High Point will have for the summer.

We are happy to be a part of the Party On The Plank event, and we are excited to have a booth at the event on June 10, June 17, and July 8. For more information about this event, or if you are interested in attending visit http://www.partyontheplank.com!

Besides adding the Party On the Plank event to the Port Southern event schedule, today's schedule was overwhelmingly busy. Port Southern had 50 Southern Hospitality Polo's prepped and delivered to Alpine Graphics to be embroidered with a High Point University logo. These polos will be given to HPU board members and special guests. We also continued to make sure our daily shipment of orders were delivered in a timely fashion. The rest of the day was spent like most, on the phone and sending emails. I had the opportunity to speak to three great Personal Sales Reps today, as well as Daryl from the Southern Gent Blog. Daryl has a great website at http://www.southerngentblog.com, and was a pleasure to speak with about Port Southern.

Overall, today was a very successful day but there is always more work to be done.

Welcome Back To Work

Hey guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Port Southern had an early start to our day, as I went to meet Mr. Chiles. Mr. Chiles is a personal sales rep for 8 clothing brands from Jamestown, NC. Mr. Chiles was a great contact to meet, because he gave us a wealth of knowledge on his experiences in sales, in the retail industry, and gave us pointers for how Port Southern can further our brand in the retail sector.

While I was working with Mr. Chiles, Nick was continuing to make Port Southern's schedule of events. Our main events will begin in March and we hope to have a main event that Port Southern attends every month. Keep in touch with our blog and Facebook for continued updates!

Another progression that Port Southern made today was to further develop our Port Southern Ambassador program. The program will be built of the best ambassadors Port Southern can obtain, and has obtained. Jeremy included 2 members to the ambassador program today.

With the day winding down, Port Southern had one of its weekly board meetings tonight. With updates from each partner, and new plans for the next couple of months in product releases, events Port Southern will attend, and creation of aspects to the Pineapple Fund, the meeting was a good and productive.

Mass Emailing + Grab a Pineapple For Port Southern!

Happy hump day for this week! Today has been a day of mass emailing with multiple outlets. But, what is entertaining at times, is that the emails never stop.

I have been emailing with manufacturers, advertisers, potential Port Southern ambassadors, fellow partners, etc throughout the day. While we had no speaking functions or appearances today, the majority of my day has either been spent over the phone or over the computer emailing. I guess this means that Port Southern must be busy!

Spring is in the air...

Today's weather feels great and makes us at Port Southern ready for the spring season! We are gearing up and getting excited for the official release of our spring line which is set to release somewhere around the last weekend in February or first weekend in March.

Our spring line will include a total of 5 colors in the Southern Hospitality Polo, Port Southern Croakies in 7 colors, and Port Southern Hats in 4 colors. All of the colors will be released when the line opens, and will include items for Gentlemen and Ladies. It is a very exciting time for Port Southern, and for you, to look forward to and prepare for.

Another way that we are gearing up for spring is designing a Port Southern Ambassador program. Our ambassador program will start as a hand picked program where people will have the opportunity to help promote and live Port Southern. Port Southern speaks to the Furnitureland Rotary Club in High Point

Good Monday to everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and have possibly enjoyed a day off from work today for Martin Luther King day.

Port Southern was not off of work today, but was actually visiting the Furnitureland Rotary Club in High Point. We were invited by a very nice member, Mr. Barry Kittley, to partake in lunch at the String and Splinter club in High Point and to speak to the Rotary Club about Port Southern.

Our presentation went well, and we are very happy that we had the privilege and the opportunity to share Port Southern with the members of the Furnitureland Rotary Club. Thank you Mr. Kittley, and thank you Rotary for having us with you today. You were very gracious hosts, and we hope that you enjoy being a part of the Port Southern family!

Prior to our lunch meeting, I headed to Alpine Graphics to follow up with Mr. Allen. He gave us the proofs for High Point University, and we can now work with them to get High Point University involved with our Southern Hospitality Polo's.

The rest of today we will be working with our manufacturer on the final process before our spring line will be shipped to us. We will also continue to work with more potential retail partners, releasing press releases, and getting prepared for the rest of the week.

On The Road Again

Port Southern hit the road again today trying to spread the word about Port Southern, gain more contacts, and meet with more retail locations. Where was Port Southern at this time?

Myself and partner Nick Ruden set off for Mt. Airy, NC today to visit with F Rees. Mr. Bowman, a very nice salesman, met us at F Rees to discuss what Port Southern has to offer their boutique. We gained a lot of great feedback from Mr. Bowman on our Southern Hospitality Polo, and we have built another great contact in the retail boutique sector.

If you are not familiar with the above picture, it is a statue of Andy Griffith with is son Opie from the famed television show called "The Andy Griffith Show". Andy Griffith is known for growing up in Mt. Airy, and in the show a town called Mayberry was designed after this area. While the town in Mt. Airy is small, the fact that it is known for being Mayberry draws a big crowd of tourists from year to year.

Once back in High Point, I took advantage of the afternoon by returning calls and emails of different inquires. One of these inquires will be very exciting and could put Port Southern apparel all the way in Texas! We will be sure to keep you all posted.

Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase- Winston Salem, NC

Good-evening! I hope everyone has had a great Thursday!

I first want to thank Katie Garner with the The Preppy Pearl Blog in sharing the message of the pineapple. Katie focuses her blog all around Southern style, the Southern lifestyle, and the things she loves the most about being Southern. We are very happy that she gave us the opportunity in being a part of her blog and her Southern life! On May 8th, 2010 the Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase horse racing event is coming back to Tanglewood Park in Winston Salem, NC. The event has been away for the past couple of years, but this year is back and it will be their 45th running. A big spring announcement for Port Southern and our fans, is that Port Southern will be a sponsor!

Port Southern will be hanging out in the "Steeplechase Village", the VIP tent, and you may even spot Port Southern apparel on the Race Day Committee. We are looking for this to be a great time of horse racing, tailgating, and just some good old Southern fun! If you are looking to have a great time, be sure to come out to the Tanglewood Cup Steeplechase horse racing event on May 8th to visit with Port Southern. Let us know if you want to come out, and we will save you a spot at our "Steeplechase Village" tent!

Teaching Southern Hospitality And Business, One Step At A Time

Hi! Thanks for joining me once again to see what Port Southern has been busy on today. I first want to apologize for not posting a blog yesterday. Port Southern owners had to start back to classes yesterday, and I ran out of time trying to get back on track.

I also wanted to share this week's Southern Hospitality Tip Of The Week with you about opting for a bowtie over a necktie. Opt For A Bowtie Over A Neck-Tie- Part of Port Southern's lifestyle brand is showing a certain flair for Southern class and Southern style. If you are looking for a way to include more of this in your wardrobe, choose a bowtie over a neck-tie for your next social event.

Today, Port Southern had the opportunity to visit Westchester Country Day School and teach some young gentleman about business and about Southern hospitality. Myself and Jeremy made the trip, and spoke to their middle school investment club. This opportunity was a great experience for us because we not only were able to share our experience and love for business, but we were also able to take part in shaping and molding these young Southern gentlemen with first hand experience of some Southern hospitality. We hope to continue more visits like these to share our love for clothing, for the South, and for the pineapple hospitality we are so fond of.

The rest of my day included a great visit with our friends at Lindsay Odom Limited in High Point, as well as speaking with our manufacturers about delivery of our spring products. Lindsay Odom Limited has been a great help to Port Southern, and we cannot thank them enough for their help. If you ever get a chance, stop in and inquire about Port Southern and experience some great people sharing hospitality as well. While also speaking to our manufacturers, we are getting closer in announcing our spring product line as well as new spring colors. This announcement will be coming in the near future, so be sure to stay on the lookout!

Taxes, Golf Tournaments, Manufacturing, and Meetings

Hi, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Port Southern surely had an eventful weekend full of work and some fun...

The work began on Saturday when we began inventory calculations and end of year taxes. Because Port Southern works in retail, sales taxes are applied and paid quarterly. Part of this process for Port Southern includes counting and checking our inventory. If you can imagine working with accounting software, rooms full of inventory, and accounting calculations then you have joined in the fun that we had on Saturday. While this process is not the best of times, it was fulfilling once everything was completed. An even better addition to the weekend, was when myself and fellow partner Jeremy Hiatt attended the Radford vs. HPU basketball game, and watched HPU come out with a big win!

This week has also started off to an eventful start. With the spring season quickly approaching, plenty of events are beginning to take shape that Port Southern may possibly attend. One of those events is the HPU Panther Club Golf Tournament. Because 3 of 4 Port Southern partners are HPU students, we hope to keep our company integrated closely with the HPU family. This tournament is open to all Panther Club Members, and with Port Southern attending it is sure to be a great time!

The rest of today consists of talking with our manufacturers to finish design and processing on some of our Fall 2010 products, as well as a Port Southern board meeting. Because new developments are made with our company every day, we try to have a board meeting once a week to make everything stay uniform.

I want to end todays blog, thanking everyone for supporting our company, Port Southern! Without support, the journey that we have begun would surely be a tough one. But with your continued support, and your help spreading the word of Port Southern and the message of the pineapple, we know that we can succeed and spread our love for fine clothing and Southern hospitality to everyone!

New Creations In the Works

I hope everyone is having a great Friday, and are just as happy as I am for the weekend to come! It has been a very productive week for Port Southern, and Im glad you guys have been able to join in the fun with me.

You may be wondering why I have attached an image of fall above. Today, Port Southern has been working hard on creating and editing designs for Fall of 2010. In retail, clothing companys and designers work two seasons ahead. So, while we are quickly approaching the spring and summer season, we are actually having to design and show retailers what we will hopefully be carrying for the next fall.

I spent the first part of my morning brushing up some last details on the design of a hopeful product we will carry for the fall, and I am now spending my afternoon talking with our manufacturers. It is a very difficult process because you have to first design a product, work the logistics and details out with a manufacturer, get prototypes in of the product, revise the mistakes (because there will always be fine tune things to change if you are a perfectionist like Port Southern), and then work on getting the final product here. Can you guess what our fall product will be?

I can assure you that these new ideas and designs are not only innovative that no one has, but they will also be very exciting. Im almost wanting to skip spring and summer just to get to them.

Port Southern Travels On Wednesday, Back In HP On Thursday

You may be able to tell by the above images, that Port Southern was traveling yesterday. As the spring season quickly approaches, we had to hit the road to try and gain some more retail locations.

I first stopped in Raleigh at Crabtree Valley Mall to meet with Mr. Pollick at Varsity Menswear. Varsity Menswear is a great retail location, that actually plans to move to the North Hills shopping center in Raleigh. After visiting Varsity Menswear, I then traveled across town to Nowell's. Nowell's is also another great location that has been in business since 1921. After Nowell's, Port Southern was off to Pinehurst for two more stops. One of those (as you can tell by one of the above images) was Pinehurst Resort. All in all, I had a great trip and Port Southern gained some great contacts.

Today has already begun on a fast start. This morning, I met with Alpine Graphics in High Point. Mr. Allen has a great company, that specializes in embroidery. While our favorite Pineapple logo is on all Southern Hospitality Polos, we also work with select organizations to put their logo on our shirts as well. Our most recent work has been with High Point University, so be on the lookout for our Southern Hospitality Polo customized with an HPU logo on the sleeve.

The rest of today, will be filled of more phone calls and meeting arrangements. As Port Southern looks towards the upcoming spring, and the next fall, it is necessary that we continue to create more contacts with various retail locations so that our fans can seek out more locations to purchase Port Southern apparel.

Welcome everyone to the Port Southern blog. We are glad that you have made your way to our blog, and we hope that you enjoy our posts. This blog is a way for Port Southern to give our fans, friends, family, and just the general public a way to stay in touch with our journey through the development of our clothing company. We hope to keep this updated from day to day, giving you an in-depth look of what Port Southern does from day in and day out. Thanks for being with us in the journey, and we hope you enjoy!

Its sunsets like these that make me excited and proud to be from the South and to share what the South is all about. As I spend my time at the beach for New Years, I look back to the reasons of why myself and friends started Port Southern over a year ago. We have started Port Southern as young college students looking to make a difference in clothing, and in our community lifestyle. But, there was really more to it then that. We all shared the same sentimental feelings for where we have been raised.

When we came up with the idea that we were going to begin this company, we really had no idea where we were going to start. The name Port Southern, and the logo of the Pineapple that coincided with it had already been thought of by my partner Nick Ruden. We knew that the true meaning behind the pineapple, of welcome and hospitality, is fondly associated with the South so we knew that we had a winning combination, but the ideas of where to get our clothing inspiration had to come from what we are all about. This created, "Fine Clothing With Southern Hospitality". Its a lifestyle that we lived, and that we were hoping to spread to others. A fine sense of style, neatness, and professionalism combined with our values and how we have been brought up.

After a lot of searching and studying, we finally found assistance from an experienced designer and manufacturer that could help us develop a product that we are proud of, that shows true quality, and would partner with our sense of Southern style. We developed the "Southern Hospitality Polo". (seen below)

Our keystone product teamed with our three main ideas of: pride for the South and our hometown, a desire to better our community and other communities with our Pineapple Fund, and the hope of creating an elite clothing line of high quality essentials that everyone could enjoy, would hopefully build and create what we believe is a successful partnership.

Everyday we continue to strive to share the hospitality the South is known for with anyone that we can. We hope that others join in our efforts to enjoy a high quality sense of clothing, enjoy a high quality lifestyle, and enjoy spreading the message of the pineapple, hospitality!
